Invisible connexons between the present and the past

Now I know that I am not a 60 year old or a frequent traveler or anybody famous or experienced or great enough to say the following. But I kind of find it amusing myself. BITS campus was a great place to have spent my vital college years. I had the greatest time of my life, n if there are any regrets, its just that I probably didn’t enjoy it more than I did, though I could have. The campus was cosmopolitan in every aspect with so many people (rather specimens) from various places in India, with different backgrounds, crazy habits, diversified cultures, weird practices, a variety of opinions, a range of tastes and mixed lifestyles. Having known so many people who were so different from each other in most facets, these days, limited though is my new circle of friends/acquaintances is in this new world, I find that I can associate every new person I come across with somebody in my memory, someone from the past! Wow! It feels a little odd at times when I find two totally unrelated people who probably have never even known or met each other, have so much in common, n I start trying to think of some plausible link in their backgrounds. Sometimes it actually feels creepy when I hear someone in the present say the same dialogue as I had heard in the past (definitely not some well-known saying or a clichéd proverb or some famous person’s quote or a movie dialogue or anything of that sort). No wonder poor Amisha Patel in Kaho Naa Pyar Hai flips when she sees/listens to the second Hrithik walk or talk! Though it does spook me, it also brings a smile to my lips and some buried memories in front of my eyes from my pensieve. :)

  2. Dejavu :)

You don't have to be 60 year old to think about your past. It's good that you've met so many varities of people at such young age. Trust me it helps. I did not enjoy my college as much as you did but I deifnintely enjoyed my first few years in Tech Mahindra, Mumbai.

  3. @ vid: he he... nice nice.. :)

@ varun: deja vu is when u kinda experiencing an already witnessed or experienced situation, kinda finding the things around as it was before and a weird knowledge of what might be said by the people around or the events that are to happen next. that is not wat i m feeling or sensing.
i told u, its really wierd.. i m not really able to think of a specific term for it.

but ya.. i do miss seeing such a variety of people all in one place. :)

  4. Oh! I know what you mean! I wrote about it in a post called 'Freaky'!

I met someone recently, who spoke the same words as my mom does!! FREAKED OUT!

But, it makes me think we are not so unique after all, are we?

  9. well iv nvr come across ppl whose mannerisms have been identical to friends from the past...hmm tht probably tells how each of my friends have been unique(quirky??:P) in their own ways....but yeah i do come across ppl who resemble others iv known before...n tht is freaky...like the small kid who comes in a chewing gum ad resembles one of my friends...tht does turn out to b unsettling but according to sage narada or saint who-ever i dunno, thr r exactly 7 ppl at any given time in the world who look alike(atleast this is the logic used in all those ol' double-action movies:P)....so yeah i do stumble upon such kind of visual similarities....

  12. @ vimmuuu: aah! so touching! thnx dude! n yeah.. how do u know tat people whom u have missed never felt the same towards u? its a feeling. it wont be obvious unless they let it be! may be ppl who u r specifically ref. to, didnt want u to find out tat they r/were missing u! ego my friend... n ya.. sadistic though my thoughts cud be, i too love being missed by the ppl i love. i dunno.. thr is something inexpressible tats really satisfying abt tat. like u know, Monica cud rest in peace n sleep only after she found tat Richard was horribly missing her too after their breakup.(ref to FRIENDS if there is ne1 out there who doesnt recognise the names mentioned above). i guess tat kinda want/need/desire to be missed (or whatever u prefer to call it), is natural afterall! uh.. did i make ne sense??

@ ulaganath: yea... i don think u got the hang of wat i was trying to say. these ppl abt whom i have written the post itself, they dont 'resemble' one another in ne way. when i said that I can associate every new person I come across with somebody in my memory, i meant their habits, their characters, their behaviour n all. it has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING what so ever to do with any physical resemlence .

@ priya: read my rply to ulaganath. n thnx. :)

    @ Aparna Gonibeed: umm... wat??????

  13. yeah i know tht u dint mean physical similarities...i was just telling my experience that i come across only physical similarities and never behavioural ones....

  16. True; same here. FRIENDS has always been there with me ever since I left my native. There are days when I really missed those six in my life. I seriously owe a lot to the people who made it happen; otherwise I wouldve been one lone human being on earth !!!
